Motortronics UK Strengthens Community Commitment as Official Partner of Plymouth Albion RFC
Plymouth, UK — 24 February 2026 — Motortronics UK, a global leader in solid-state motor control technologies, has been announced as an official partner of Plymouth Albion RFC for the 2025/26 season, marking a significant partnership between two organisations deeply connected to the Devon region. Plymouth Albion confirmed Motortronics as one of the club’s official kit partners, with branding to be featured on the back of the playing kit throughout the upcoming season.

Motortronics is recognised worldwide as a specialist in the design and manufacturing of AC motor controls (soft starters) and motor protection products. Founded in 1982, the company has always operated in the South West, starting in Kingsbridge before moving to Ivybridge in 2011. Motortronics has a truly global footprint with group facilities in Clearwater, Florida, the British West Indies, China and South Korea. Over its four decades of operation, the company has shipped more than two million solid-state starters and controllers worldwide — supplying virtually every major industry and amassing extensive real‑world experience unmatched in the sector. With a global workforce of more than 600 employees and a network of authorised sales and service partners, Motortronics has grown into one of the largest independent manufacturers of solid‑state power controls in the world.
Motortronics UK - formerly Fairford Electronics before acquisition in 2018/9 - aligns global expertise with a strong local presence. The transition unified European product branding with global markets, with familiar soft starter ranges now known as VMX‑synergy™, VMX‑agility™, and VMX‑PFE™.
Motortronics offers one of the industry’s broadest product ranges, covering low‑voltage controls from 200 – 600 VAC (up to 1500 kW) and medium‑voltage soft starters from 2.3 - 15 kV (up to 12,000 kW). The portfolio extends to electronic brakes, motor winding heaters, and motor protection relays. As one of only a small number of true manufacturers of medium‑voltage solid‑state starters, Motortronics products feature within OEM solutions from many global industrial automation giants.
Kirsten King, Motortronics UK Managing Director says "The company attributes its success to its people, our employees are our most important asset. We foster a culture of open communication, engineering excellence, and strong customer relationships – all values that align closely with Plymouth Albion’s own community-driven ethos."
Plymouth Albion Commercial Director James Greenacre welcomed the partnership, stating:
“It’s fantastic to welcome Motortronics to the club as a kit partner this season. To have a global leader with such a strong reputation for innovation and expertise backing Albion is a real boost. Their support helps us push forward on and off the pitch, and we’re proud to have their name on our kit this year.”
Motortronics’ involvement with Albion extends beyond the kit partnership. The organisation has previously supported matchday activity as part of the Plymouth Manufacturers’ Group, demonstrating its continued investment in local industry and community sport.
This partnership comes at an exciting time for Plymouth Albion, who continue as strong contenders in National League One, sitting near the top of the table during the 2025/26 campaign. At time of writing, Albion are only one point behind leaders Rotherham Titans with just six games to go.
