  • Production Operative

    Reports to: Operations Manager

    Company Overview:

    The Company was founded in 1982. We are specialist designers and manufacturers of energy saving motor control equipment. Based at Lee Mill, near Plymouth, we serve industrial and commercial markets worldwide, with 85% of our annual sales being exported.

    We are part of a much larger worldwide group with premises in USA, St Kitts, South Korea and China.

    Today, with a successful track record recognised around the world, we are known internationally as the pioneers of digital soft starters and are still innovating and diversifying our product ranges today.

    Job Overview:

    The role has the responsibility of assembling and inspecting all Motortronics products in a safe and efficient manner to the latest specification.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Ensure that all products are built and inspected in line with the Quality system.
    • Ensure that all production test equipment is properly maintained and used safely.
    • Work with Operations to ensure Customer delivery dates are achieved.
    • Make and suggest improvements to procedures, techniques and design.
    • Keep a clean and safe working environment and optimise space utilisation.
    • Be aware of the company’s health and safety system and ensure that all risk assessments and safe systems of work are followed.
    • Communicate effectively with co-workers and management.

    Experience and Requirements:

    • Proven previous experience within electronic assembly desirable.
    • Basic workshop skills essential.
    • Ability to problem solve.
    • Keen eye for detail.
    • Team player.

  • Technical Applications Engineer in Sales

    Reports to: Technical Applications Manager

    Job Overview:

    Contacts with: Customers, senior management team, regional sales managers, customer service, product development engineers, marketing agency, operations

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Provide technical application engineering support to deliver expert product/sector knowledge and support to both internal and external customers.
    • The role will be responsible for the technical cultivation and support of new and existing business opportunities across key global industrial automation end-users, consultants and OEM’s, but not exclusively.
    • Deliver the company’s technical application capability to a high level of technical service support and relationships to internal and external customers.
    • Work in close partnership with the sales and customer service teams to ensure clear, efficient and respectful communications are created and maintained.
    • Provide technical support for customers on the technical aspects of soft starters and motor control & protection products and their application.
    • Assist the technical applications manager in the creation and maintenance of a modular technical product & application training slide presentation suitable for various target audience levels.
    • Demonstrate, encourage and participate in the building of strong/effective communications and technical relationships with customers.
    • Participate and/or attend international trade technical exhibitions and conferences, as required.
    • Assist marketing services to provide technical and application direction for Motortronics marketing collateral and website content with product updates, amendments, developing news stories, reference sites and case studies.
    • Work independently organising and planning replies to technical queries with sales colleagues.
    • International travel may be required from time to time to support the sales team and visit customers.
    • Maintain a thorough knowledge of competitive activity in products, programs and pricing through regular reports to appropriate personnel within the team.
    • Technical articulation of product positioning within the market to both commercial and technical users.
    • As a working member of the Motortronics team, actively input/output ideas to better the position of Motortronics in the global markets.

    Experience and Requirements:

    • Recognised level of education in electrical engineering.
    • Commercial experience in the electrical sector / industrial automation sectors. Ideally with design and application engineering capability.
    • Accomplished level of written and technical presentation skills.
    • High standard of communication skills. Good organisational and time management skills.
    • A desire to learn and develop your career.
    • Able to travel internationally if required.

  • Production Engineer

    Reports to: Managing Director

    Job Overview:

    Motortronics-UK Ltd are looking for a Production Engineer to join their operations team. The Production Engineer will support them with the planning, design, setup and manufacturing processes. The role requires an efficient, well organised and energetic individual to cover the varied tasks – a person who will need good communication skills in liaising between all departments.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Able to liaise with all departments, throughout the complete design and production lifecycle, to ensure efficient development, manufacture and delivery of products to customers.
    • Optimise shop floor layouts to allow efficient flow of product through assembly processes.
    • Able to develop and implement process control techniques and procedures into manufacturing environments, including Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques.
    • Provide active input to the design review process.
    • Produce and maintain detailed process documentation and assembly instructions to ensure consistent quality standards are maintained throughout manufacturing processes.
    • Ensure conformance to Company policies and procedures, Health & Safety, and Environmental legislation.
    • Carry out risk assessments of all related production processes and procedures.
    • Design of specialist production tooling (jigs & fixtures) to ensure efficient assembly of products.
    • Specification, procurement, introduction (approval and training) of new production equipment and processes.
    • Assist in the training of production operatives in manufacturing procedures and processes.
    • Communicate and liaise with other departments (QA, Engineering and Supply chain) to resolve production issues.
    • Support production assembly with technical and day to day manufacturing issues.

    Experience and Requirements:

    • Detailed knowledge of a broad range of manufacturing technology, processes, and concepts.
    • Knowledge of IPC standards associated with PCB and wiring harness assembly an advantage.
    • Experience of low/medium volume manufacturing.
    • Good understanding of mechanical principles and manufacturing processes.
    • Experience gained within an electro-mechanical assembly environment.
    • Degree in suitable related engineering discipline preferable (Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering), but not essential if the candidate can demonstrate considerable experience in Mechanical/ Electrical manufacturing technology.
    • Team player.
