  • Production Operative

    Reports to: Operations Manager

    Company Overview:

    Job Overview:

    The role has the responsibility of assembling and inspecting all Motortronics products in a safe and efficient manner to the latest specification.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Ensure that all products are built and inspected in line with the Quality system.
    • Ensure that all production test equipment is properly maintained and used safely.
    • Work with Operations to ensure Customer delivery dates are achieved.
    • Make and suggest improvements to procedures, techniques and design.
    • Keep a clean and safe working environment and optimise space utilisation.
    • Be aware of the company’s health and safety system and ensure that all risk assessments and safe systems of work are followed.
    • Communicate effectively with co-workers and management.

    Experience and Requirements:

    • Proven previous experience within electronic assembly desirable.
    • Basic workshop skills essential.
    • Ability to problem solve.
    • Keen eye for detail.

  • Embedded Software Engineer

    Reports to: Group Technology Leader

    The Role:

    As our Embedded Software Engineer, you'll be a part of an experienced team with the freedom to work on exciting new projects and technologies.

    You will be responsible for the development of Soft Start motor controllers, ensuring that the embedded software design is robust so that applications are accurate, reliable, and maintainable. Initially working on PIC micro-controller as well as future projects using other controllers with ARM cores.

    In addition, there is a requirement to optionally integrate with other aspects of the product development process such as electronic circuit design, power electronics, thermal analysis, and development of PC based remote-control tools.

    Requirements:

    Graduate in Electronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience gained in an embedded software development environment.

    A strong background in developing real-time embedded C code and programming Microchip PIC controllers (bare metal and RTOS).

    Ability to develop software fulfilling requirements to optimise software for speed, memory constraints and maintainability.

    Experience in interfacing embedded software with peripherals at low level (SPI, I2C, UART, USB) as well as high level (Modbus, TCP/IP).

    Familiarity with embedded development tools such as debuggers, oscilloscopes, and analysers.

    Familiarity with source control software and the peer review process.

    Highly advantageous to have:

    The Ability to design and fault find electronic circuits.

    Experience in PCB design using Altium Designer.

    Knowledge of interfacing electronic hardware with electrical systems and the basic principles of motor control.

    Use of PC based programming languages such as C# and Python.

  • Production Engineer

    Job Overview:

    Motortronics-UK Ltd are looking for a Production Engineer to join their operations team. The Production Engineer will support them with the planning, electrical design, setup and manufacturing processes. The role requires an efficient, well organised and energetic individual to cover the varied tasks – a person who will need good communication skills and engineering knowledge in liaising between all departments.

    Responsibilities and Duties:

    • Able to liaise with all departments, throughout the complete design and production lifecycle, to ensure efficient development, manufacture and delivery of products to customers.
    • Electrical engineering – eg. ability/knowledge of rating electrical components / power connections, general wiring practices, electrical safety.
    • Mechanical engineering – eg. Switchgear placement, bending distances of cables, IP protection levels.
    • Optimise shop floor layouts to allow efficient flow of product through assembly processes.
    • Provide active input to the design review process.
    • Produce and maintain detailed process documentation and assembly instructions to ensure consistent quality standards are maintained throughout manufacturing processes.
    • Ensure conformance to Company policies and procedures, Health & Safety, and Environmental legislation.
    • Carry out risk assessments of all related production processes and procedures.
    • Design of specialist production tooling (jigs & fixtures) to ensure efficient assembly of products.
    • Specification, procurement, introduction (approval and training) of new production equipment and processes. Control & maintenance of machines/equipment.
    • Assist in the training of production operatives in manufacturing procedures and processes.
    • Communicate and liaise with other departments (QA, Engineering and Supply chain) to resolve production issues.
    • Support production assembly with technical and day to day manufacturing issues.

    Experience and Requirements:

    • Detailed knowledge of a broad range of manufacturing design, technology, processes, and concepts.
    • Knowledge of IPC standards associated with PCB and wiring harness assembly an advantage.
    • Ability to evaluate / interpret product standards, short circuit coordination, technical file data – evaluation & production of technical drawings desirable.
    • Experience of low/medium volume manufacturing.
    • Good understanding of mechanical principles and manufacturing processes.
    • Experience gained within an electro-mechanical assembly environment.
    • A Degree in suitable related engineering discipline preferable (Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering), but not essential if the candidate can demonstrate considerable experience in Mechanical/ Electrical manufacturing technology.
    • Ability to problem solve.
    • Team player.
