Communications blip
Scott Ackland, Operational Technology Engineer at South West Water approached Motortronics UK with an issue they had with the communications link between soft starter and PLC. Initial tests found that the software in the Motortronics VMX-synergy Plus soft starter was also unable to achieve what Scott needed.
The solution – rewrite the software!
“The MUK Technical Support and Software Engineers spent many hours working with our own SWW technicians to replicate the set-up, the issue we were encountering and finally a solution,” said Scott. “The sharing of knowledge between both companies has proved invaluable.”
Collaboration
Since this initial contact, MUK have been working closely with SWW to simplify and streamline the process for selection and supply of low voltage soft starters.
Bespoke Sizing Selection Guides have been created and are focused on those applications that are the most appropriate for SWW’s needs. These include pumps, fans, compressors and mixers.
The available solutions including communications options have been bench-tested at MUK’s facility in Ivybridge and SWW’s HQ in Exeter. allowing on-site installations to be completed without any issues.
The guides show all the information that the engineer would need to ensure correct selection, culminating with the part ordering code and the specially discounted price available dependent on quantity ordered.
The Selection Guides (including the special pricing) are also available to project contractors that are introduced to MUK by SWW.
Training for SWW engineers and technicians as well as those of their contractors is also offered at no charge as part of this collaboration.
